Bagyong Quinta Update (Dec. 25, 2012) - 9 Areas under Storm Warning Signal #1

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low pressure area (LPA) East of Northern Mindanao has developed into a Tropical Depression and was named "Quinta".

The state weather bureau said, as of 4:00 am today (Christmas Day), the center of Bagyong “QUINTA” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 400 km East of Surigao City.

Moving West at 19 kph, Bagyong "QUINTA" is packing winds of 55 kph near the center.

Signal No.1 ((Winds of 30-60kph is expected in at least 36 hrs.))

- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
- Eastern Samar
- Western Samar
- Surigao Del Norte 
- Dinagat Island
- Surigao Del Sur
- Agusan Provinces
- Camiguin Island

Bagyong “Quinta” is expected to make landfall over Dinagat Island tomorrow morning and will be at 50 km East of Cuyo Island by Thursday morning.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 to 15 mm per hour (moderate-heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

PAGASA also alerted residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal No. 1 against flash floods and landslides.
