Bagyong "BISING" maintains strength; Storm Warning Signal #1 Raised

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Bagyong "BISING" has maintained its strength as it continues to move North Northwestward.

The state weather bureau said, as of 11:00 a.m. today (January 12), the center of Tropical Storm "BISING" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 215km east of Virac, Catanduanes.

Moving North Northwest at 17 kph,
Tropical Depression "BISING" is packing winds of 45 kph near the center.

Signal No.1 (Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours)
- Catanduanes

Public Storm Warning Signal elsewhere is now lowered.

Bagyong "BISING" is the second storm to visit the country this year.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 - 15 mm per hour (moderate- heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

PAGASA also alerted residents low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal #1 against possible flashfloods and landslides.
